Two Aussies and a Kat is comprised of Malcolm Burt and Sue Warner who come from Melbourne, Australia, and a Leopard Catamaran known as Kool Kat 1. If you are interested in Kool Kat’s details please check out her own page by clicking here.
Mal and I are both retired and live in the West Indies on a boat full-time. This involves sailing through a chain of Caribbean islands in the winter months (November-June) and living in Grenada during the summer months (July-October). We also head home once a year for a family and friends fix!
We commenced our journey in June 2013 when we purchased Kool Kat from a gorgeous Texan couple, Linda and John. She waited patiently for us in Grenada until we could move aboard in February 2014. We have been on a serious learning curve since that first day and we find we love our lifestyle more than we could ever have hoped. In Australia we had a monohull, Sancha, for a number of years and undertook sailing lessons when we first started out. Mal became quite an adept sailor, whereas I suffered from seasickness and this resulted in Mal being quite the lone sailor! It wasn’t until three years ago when good friends, Gina and Bruce, kindly invited us to join them in the Caribbean on their Leopard 47′, Wyuna, that we had even considered sailing seriously again. It was a fabulous time and, little did we know at the time, but led us to where we are today!
We are eternally grateful and count our blessings every day that we have the opportunity to experience this journey and cannot recommend it highly enough to whose who may be considering it. We are very happy to be contacted if you have any questions or comments.
We love having family and friends visit so drop us a line if you are considering it. You might also want to check out this post to get an idea of life aboard. Don’t wait for a formal invitation, this is it!
